SAS International proudly sponsored this year’s Fitout Awards: Roundtable Summit, a platform that provides constructive, focused discussions regarding future building design in Ireland.
Cathal McGuinness, Director of SAS International Ireland and an employee of over 20 years, attended this inspiring event. Positioned on the acoustics table alongside industry experts and recognised architects, Cathal demonstrated the significance of the A in SAS (Special Acoustic Services).
Peer Leader of the acoustics table, Jim Dunnes of iAcoustics, brought a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the discussion. Renowned within the industry, Jim compelled the conversation into challenging and stimulating debates surrounding acoustics within the built environment.
During the roundtable event, conversations reinforced the importance of acoustics design in commercial offices. Specifically, in educating architects to engage with acoustic experts in the early design stages of a project.
A significant trend that was frequently mentioned during the event is, open soffit designs in modern interior fitouts. A substantial issue with this application is the ability to provide a comfortable acoustic environment which supports productivity. As there are no mandatory acoustics regulations to adhere to when designing offices spaces. This can prove challenging for architects when specifying materials, who should often then seek the knowledge from a specialist.
This event provided an excellent opportunity for key players within the Irish construction industry to meet and network with others in their field. Present and engaged, everybody in attendance was transparent and open to learning something new.
