Specially designed SAS fit-out products will feature in the new V&A Museum of Design Dundee.
The first design museum in the UK outside London, V&A Dundee promises to be a hub for learning and culture. The museum, designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and inspired by the coastline of the north east of Scotland, is located on the waterfront of the River Tay.
V&A Dundee will be Kuma’s first British building, and aims to become a new ‘living room for the city’. His vision for the museum is that it will be a welcoming space for everybody to visit, enjoy and socialise in.
The design team at SAS International worked closely with the architects, Dundee City Council and Allied Interiors to create a contract winning mock-up. Bright white, tapered SAS740 linear profiles and SAS600 mesh rafts were selected to complete the fit-out.
A dedicated home to the story of Scottish design, V&A Dundee will also house touring exhibitions from the V&A in London.
The new museum will open to the public in 2018.
