                • Miesian Plaza, Dublin

                Miesian Plaza, Dublin

The opening of Miesian Plaza has been a well-debated and long-awaited project. Dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, the building has housed some of Ireland’s most prestigious organisations over the years.

Now, and after years of meticulous renovation and restoration, the building is set to welcome its new tenants, including the likes of Ireland’s Department of Health.

Aiming to achieve the highest LEED platinum accreditation, architects Scott Tallon Walker have said their goal is: “To provide Grade A accommodation of the highest modern standard to equal or surpass the finest developments in the market.”

Combining sustainable high-grade services all encased in a bronze-tinted double-glazed window motif, the building achieves the architect’s bold aim to create a building like no other.

Purchased by Irish entrepreneur Larry Goodman for over €40 million, Goodman selected leading global architects Scott Tallon Walker for the project as they were the main designers on the original build designed by the late Ronnie Tallon.

Taken on by his son, Michael Tallon, Scott Tallon Walker selected SAS International for their previous work and quality products.

A key part of the renovation was to ensure the interior was in-keeping with the Miesian Plaza’s characteristic bronze exterior. For this reason, SAS International was specified to provide a bronze anodised system to complement the building’s recurring aesthetic.

SAS International designed and manufactured products for three of the Miesian Plaza’s blocks. As the building module size is imperial, SAS was able to provide bespoke C profile width to maintain the buildings original 64 1/2” planning module.

In block one, 500m2 of anodised bronze architectural metalwork was installed in a double height entrance hall. In block two’s reception area, anodised metalwork was crafted to be easily integrated with SAS330 ceiling tiles, hitting the mark on aesthetics and acoustic absorption. For the entrance in block three, a bronze anodised aluminum lighting grid was installed to to house translucent Perspex mega panels, heightening the light’s glow from behind.

Further SAS products included 20,000m2 bespoke SAS330 tartan grid panels in open-plan office spaces, offering straightforward access for servicing. SAS150 was specified in the building’s bathrooms, with Scott Tallon Walker requesting warm greys for male and female facilities.

The talking-point of the built environment, the Miesian Plaza development is a hallmark of Irish design that will be preserved for years to come. Working on this project and providing unrivalled, bespoke systems which deliver on aesthetic and quality, SAS International has cemented its name in one of Europe’s most admirable of buildings.
